EDR Building Designs was established in early 2001 by Ernest Raso who has been involved in the industry for over 10 years. Ernest began drafting for a local architectural company at the completion of secondary school. To further his experience he moved to a large locally owned building design firm where invaluable knowledge of construction, building methods and design were cultured. Ernest was then contracted to a large, local architectural firm to aid in documenting a $50m+ project. Once that project was finalized he went onto become the main documenter for a very well known local and award winning building designer where a vast amount of knowledge was gained in designing, using alternate materials and creating actual lifestyles. Ernest then started EDR Building Designs in early 2001 where he immediately found himself with an ever-growing list of clients.

At that time the business was promptly called for to be involved in and responsible for creating award winning designs for many renowned Cairns builders. EDR Building Designs then had to expand with additional staff required to keep up with demand as well as maintaining its well known high levels of customer service therefore the purchase of a larger office premises on Mulgrave Road in early 2005 was necessary. This proved to be much more suitable to its valuable cliental and it remains operational from that address today, currently with a strong team of four full time staff as well as up to another four contract draftsmen and designers.

Ernest is a fully qualified and licensed open class building designer having spent 6.5 years studying a Bachelor of Building Design at Central Queensland University after which he went onto aid in streamlining this course, for future up and coming designers to enjoy. His staff members have now begun undertaking this exact university degree. Ernest can also boast being a member of the Building Designers Association of Queensland as well as a qualified Green Smart Designer.
